Moths & Butterflies : Part Two

Monday, 30 November 2015

Walking through the city where I live right now is like walking knee deep in honey surrounded by angry bee's. Armed with oversized shopping bags and stares that could kill, swarms of shoppers are hitting the high street in search of that gadget he will use once, and those things she will never wear.

So, I was relieved to escape and spend some time at the studio last week putting together some limited edition prints for The Old Farmhouse Studio Shop in Dorset (which by the way is opening next weekend! But more on that later). I had some serious fun working on these guys :

Art prints of the whole collection seen here are now available from my Etsy shop in A4 and A3 sizes. Buy all four prints for an eye catching display with a Natural History feel that even Sir David Attenborough himself would surely approve of (oh, how I wish he would!) ahem, anyway, I'm off to prepare for the Christmas shop! Stay tuned for more about that over the coming days!

New Stockist! Atelier Indrukwekkend

Wednesday, 18 November 2015

I placed the box down on to the scales, it's seams bursting with hare's, sausage dogs and chubby little hedgehogs (cards that is). I proudly smiled at the post office cashier and said :

"Morning! This one to The Netherlands please!"

I was met with little enthusiasm, as expected, packages are sent to Holland and beyond every single day. However, at this point in time nothing, no nothing, could burst my bubble. Because my friends, *Artist Not Included is now available from Atelier Indrukwekkend in The Netherlands!

Atelier Indrukwekkend is a studio and shop based in delft, The Netherlands. In their studio they create bespoke stationary, wedding invitations and T-shirts staying true to traditional printing techniques. They also teach workshops including Lino, Etching and Screen Printing as well as offering open access to artists.
In their shop they sell hand printed cards and gifts. Not only that, for all you printers out there, check out their Etsy shop for their own brand of inks, squeegee's and various printing tools! I mean (I'm going to geek out here for a minute here okay?) LOOK! Look at the colours!
And this! This kit would make an amazing Christmas present! Look at the crate for goodness sake!

Indrukwekkend translated means Impressive and I think it's rather fitting, don't you?

Moths & Butterflies

Monday, 16 November 2015

When I think of winter, I think texture ; knitted wool jumpers, rich wrinkled leather, and those fur headbands which I never really understood (I think you need have been Made In Chelsea to pull these off!).

Anyway, for my latest project I decided to create a collection of Moths and Butterflies in pen and ink, and these winter textures have been a big influence when creating them.

Moths and Butterflies are fleeting works of art,  trend setters of repeated pattern and if studied closely covered in a plush layer of intricate fur. I worked on every little detail with this collection to create a 'fluffy' effect, and next week these little guys will be turned into large multi coloured screen prints which will be available to purchase from my Etsy shop. So stay tuned!

New Prints Available Now!

Tuesday, 10 November 2015

The other day a man stood next to me at a pedestrian crossing. I waited patiently for the green light as he started to bellow out "Fairytale of New York" at the top of his voice. He was alone, I was alone, it was a mixture of startling and very awkward. However, after this I started to feel more like Christmas is on it's way (so, thank you loud gentleman!) therefore it's about time I shared my new prints with you.

These lovely A4 prints are available in 6 different designs ; Walking Pheasant, Running Hare, Chubby Hedgehog, Mr Cockerel, Mr Duck and Mrs Duck. My Favourites have to be Mr and Mrs Duck that can be matched together to create a lovely gift.

The prints are screen printed by hand from my original hand drawn illustrations onto 350gsm recycled card, signed and sealed in a biodegradable sleeve. I personally think that these prints would look best mounted in a 'Shabby Chic' style white frame. So, for something slightly different this Christmas please visit my Etsy shop. Kick off your shoes, make a nice cup of tea and come on in.

Etsy Shop Update!

Tuesday, 10 November 2015

My head has been firmly planted in my sketchbook the past few weeks working on new designs that are to be revealed by the end of this month. So, I apologise if I've been a little quiet, but I am hoping it will be well worth the wait. However, this little guy never get's forgotten especially around Christmas time, and I am excited to say I have some new colours for you that are now available from my Etsy shop!

First up we have "Hot Dog Mustard" (pun very much intended) printed in a bright mustard yellow with black line detail. Then there's the brooding and ever so slightly cheeky "Mr Grey" (again, pun very much intended!) printed with an ice grey background. Both prints are available as A3 head and tail sets and as always, each piece is screen printed by hand from my own hand drawn Illustrations and completely made in Hampshire, UK.

So, it's back to my sketchbook for now but I will be back very soon to show you what's been keeping me so occupied! And if you like what you see then please visit my Etsy shop by clicking here.
